- Flexible or open tickets allow you to travel on any sailing within a validity window; useful for island-hopping itineraries when you are not certain of your schedule.
- On high-speed catamarans, seating is assigned; on conventional ferries it is often open plan – boarding early gives you the best choice of seats.
- If your ferry is cancelled, the operator is required to offer a refund or alternative sailing; head to the operator's quayside office immediately.

The historic Plaka neighbourhood at the foot of the Acropolis hill, with its neoclassical lanes, Roman ruins, and traditional tavernas, is the most atmospheric place to spend time before or after your crossing.
