Tilos to Kastellorizo Route Map

Map of the Dodecanese showing the ferry route east from Tilos to Kastellorizo.

Tilos to Megisti, better known as Kastellorizo, is one of the longest hauls in the Dodecanese for the distance covered, taking around seven hours on the Blue Star Ferries service with the Blue Star Patmos. The route works its way east along the island chain with intermediate calls before making the run out to the far edge of Greek waters. It is a conventional ferry with a restaurant, lounges and deck space, which you will want on a crossing of this length.

Kastellorizo is Greece's easternmost inhabited island, sitting just off the Turkish coast near Kas. The port town wraps around a small bay in a tight arc of pastel neoclassical houses, familiar to many from the film Mediterraneo. There is not a great deal to do beyond the harbourfront tavernas and a boat out to the Blue Cave, which is rather the point of the place.

Sailings run around twice a week and are highly seasonal, reflecting how isolated the island is. The current timetable and fares are shown below, with fares starting around €23. Kastellorizo is also reachable by excursion boat from Kas in Turkey and has a small airport with domestic flights, both useful fallbacks if the ferry timing is awkward.
